SAN ANTONIO – Katy Tompkins’ dream season came to a close in the 6A State Championship game when Allen’s Donovan Parham laid in an easy bucket with 1.1 seconds left in overtime to give the Eagles a 49-47 win.
The layup was setup by a Isiah Stevens steal in the waning seconds of overtime. Initially the Eagles celebrated when the horn sounded after the bucket, but after video review, officials placed 1.1 on the clock.
Unfortunately Tompkins was unable to answer, ending their season at (32-9). The victory gave Allen (34-5) their first boys basketball state title.
Leading the way for the Falcons was CJ Washington and Jamal Bieniemy, both finishing with 15 points. On the other side Jaylen Walker led all Allen scores with 18 points.
