Soccer Playoff Review: Bellaire vs. Langham Creek (Girls)

The Bellaire Cardinals girls soccer team racked up accolades by the boatload this year.

They were back-to-back undefeated district champs at 12-0 and finished the season 17-5.

This year marked the 5th consecutive year the Lady Cardinals won the district title and they outscored their opponents in goals 97-3.

To add even more accolades to the team, the team leader Allie Schachter reached her 100th career goal.

With all the success the Lady Cardinals accumulated there’s no denying they’ve had a successful season.

However, one could argue that the ultimate measure of a successful season for Bellaire would be whether or not the Lady Cardinals get past the first round.

In the past four years, the Lady Cardinals have fell short at getting past the first round.

Being able to advance in the playoffs has been the team’s motivation all year long.

In preparation to get past the first round, head coach Allen Thompson set up a rigorous preseason schedule for the team.

The Lady Cardinals performed well in preseason play by beating some tough teams they’ll potentially face in the playoffs.

“The players have done everything they needed to do to put themselves in the position to win,” Thompson said about getting ready for the playoffs. “So we’re feeling confident and determined.”

To start off the playoffs, Bellaire will face Langham Creek at Butler Stadium.

The game is scheduled to start at 7:30.
